Privacy Policy

What Shrimp collects, why it needs it, and what it never does with it.

What Shrimp is

Shrimp is a membership and training app for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms. Members, parents, coaches, and gym staff use it to manage memberships, book classes, record attendance, track belt progression, and keep up with their gym's community noticeboard.

This policy explains what personal data Shrimp collects, why, who processes it, and how to ask questions or request deletion.

Data we collect

  • Account details. Your name, email address, and optional phone number.
  • Date of birth. For practitioners and children — used for age-appropriate class and membership plan eligibility.
  • Child profile information. Names, dates of birth, and belt history, entered and managed by a parent or guardian.
  • Photos. Optional profile avatars and gym logos you choose to upload.
  • Content you create. Community posts and comments, training journal entries, and messages you send to support.
  • Training and activity data. Class bookings, attendance records, and belt/stripe progression.
  • Membership and billing references. Your membership plan and status, plus non-sensitive payment references such as Direct Debit mandate IDs or the last four digits of a card. Full payment details are collected by our payment providers through their own secure pages — never by Shrimp.

Everything above is collected so the app can function — running your gym membership, booking and attendance, rank tracking, billing, and support. We collect nothing beyond what those features need, and we only use it for those purposes.

Who processes it

Shrimp relies on a small set of service providers to run the app. Each processes data only on our behalf:

  • Supabase — Database, authentication, and file storage (EU-hosted).
  • GoCardless — Direct Debit payment processing.
  • Stripe — Card payment processing.
  • Resend — Transactional email — confirmations, notifications, and support replies.
  • Netlify — Web hosting.

Your gym's staff can see the membership, attendance, and billing-status information they need to run the gym you belong to. They never see full payment details.

What we don't do

  • No advertising — the app contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
  • No sale or sharing of your personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
  • No tracking — no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

Children's data

Children do not have their own Shrimp accounts. A parent or guardian creates and manages child profiles from their own account, and controls all of the child's information — profile details, class bookings, membership, and belt history. Child dates of birth are used for age-appropriate class and plan eligibility and are only visible to the parent and the gym staff who need them.

Community content

Each gym has a members-only community noticeboard. Posts and comments are visible only to members of that gym. Before contributing for the first time you agree to the community guidelines. You can report any post or comment, and block another member so you no longer see their content. Reports go to your gym's moderators, who review them and can remove content.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Billing records may be retained after that where we have a legal obligation to keep them.

To request deletion of your account or any of your data — including child profiles — contact us at support@shrimp-app.com or through the in-app contact form, and we will action it promptly.
